If you watched Oprah today, you heard her rant about the need to change the pubic school system, which I agree needs to change. However...
Recent statistics have shown:
Parents spend 3 and a half minutes a week having meaningful conversations with each child.
That same child spends 1,680 minutes a week watching tv. UNBELIEVABLE! Neither is a typo.
I think it is America's family values that need to be critiqued, in addition to the education system. If parents would model learning for their children, help with homework and just simply spend a little time investing in their children, then the education system would not look nearly as bad! Where did eating dinner as a family and catching up on the day go? What happened to reading instead of vegging out in front of the tv?
